iPod Shuffle v2.0 Finally
Remember that super-small iPod Shuffle v2.0 from the Showtime event well over a month ago? The good news is that this player is finally shipping. Way too long after it was announced, in my opinion. Nevertheless, it is still a nifty little MP3 player, and it is made by Apple, so we can't hate on it for too long. Go pick it up from an Apple Store or order it online'"just in time for the holidays. iTunes TV Review - Battlestar Galactica 3.4:
"Keep jumping." So sayeth Adama to Fat Apollo. And so sayeth me, just a little bit, to this show. I suppose after all the crazy excitement of the New Caprica storyline, our return to Galactica proper was bound to be a wee bit of a letdown, but perhaps that's just because there were no great escapes or tearful reunions to be had?

Apple Patents Another Touch Sensitive iPod
Apple dropped another bomb today by unveiling a new patent application appropriately titled "Electronic Device Having Display and Surrounding Touch Sensitive Bezel for User Interface and Control." At least they are specific with the title. The focus of the patent is the incorporation of a touch-sensitive bezel (edge of screen) that can adapt to the screen contents to provide an input method for the user. Hrmpf suggests that the use of this non-screen area would eliminate many of the "smudge" and "scratch" concerns for a full-screen touch iPod. The only downside to this finding is the possibility that the full-screen touch iPod could get delayed even longer. DoubleTwisting iTunes'
Mix one clever Norwegian programmer, two parts DRM, an overarching desire to do anything to cash in on the iPod's success, and just a touch of akevitt, and what do you get? In all likelihood, the next iPod firmware

Sonnettech Volta: Watch iPod Movies for 16 Hours
If that 3.5-hour playback time of the 30GB iPod or 6.5 hour playback of the 80GB model isn't going to be enough for you, here's the Sonnettech Volta Rechargeable Battery Pack, claiming "up to" (we're always wary of those two weasel words) 16 hours of video playback on a single 5.5 hour charge. In addition to its extended video playback capabilities, a fully-charged Volta can actually charge your iPod three times if you can't get to a hot USB port or AC adapter. Even though it's yet another device to put into your bag of tricks, this one looks like it could keep you watching video until your eyes get crossed. Beyond that, it can keep that iPod going for 80 hours of music listening. This is great for those of us who whine about the iPod not having enough battery longevity. If that's a priority, it might be worth shelling out $69.95. '" Charlie White Product Page [Sonnet Technologies, Inc.]

Sharper Image iPulse Bear
Normally Sharper Image is on top of their game with awesome gadgets, but man, this thing is stupid. The iPulse Bear Speaker is simply that. It is a bear that has integrated speakers and lights on the appendages. Those lights are likely to cause seizures, but whatever. Despite the name, this bear isn't limited to playback on the iPod, it can play through any audio device. What's the deal, Sharper Image? This thing is $39.95 worth of crap. Spin Master iPod Cases Let You Mix
We can see how these Remix and Beatz iPod cases can get pretty annoying after a while. But the first couple hours you play with this thing will be pure delight. The two cases'"one which lets you drop "funky beatz" and the other lets you "remix"'"can be chained together so you and your buddy can work together. It's kinda cool, and will be available at Best Buy soon for $30. We just wish they hadn't destroyed one of our favorite Jamiroquai songs. '" Jason Chen Product Page [Spin Master]
