Question of the Day: Which Music Player Do You Use? [Question Of The Day]

Do you know anybody that doesn't have a portable music player, let alone several? It's 2008, and just about everyone we know has either an iPod, Zune, SanDisk or cellphone that can play back MP3s on the go. Here's our question to you: which PMPs do you own, and which one is your "main" player? If you have more than one type, vote for the one you use the most. Gawker Media polls require Javascript; if you're viewing this in an RSS reader, click through to view in your Javascript-enabled web browser.

Apple posts iTunes

Apple has recently posted a number of video tutorials that cover iPod and iTunes basics. Now, if you're somewhat familiar with iTunes/iPods you won't learn much from these tutorials, but your Aunt Dora who is rocking her first iPod ever will find these videos very helpful (and you'll look like the good niece or nephew because you helped her with her new techno-bauble. Everybody wins!). Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

TearDrop iPod Water Resistant Bathroom

Filed under: iPod Family, Odds and ends I don't know how many iPods I've ruined by accidentally showering with them. Picture it, there I am grooving to my jams (usually something by Paul Anka or They Might Be Giants) and I work up a healthy sweat. I immediately hop into the shower and before you can say, 'Goodnight, nurse,' my iPod shorts out. I thought I was doomed to lead an iPodless shower existence, but then I found the TearDrop iPod Water Resistant Bathroom Speaker. These droplet shaped speakers are the perfect accompaniment to any shower, and they only cost $58. When you add in the lovely colors and the fact that they are 'big in Japan,' I think you have a real winner here. [via Krunker] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

WSJ Investigation Contradicts Forrester iPhone

On Thursday, Forrester Research published a report that outlined the top ten reasons why IT departments won't support the iPhone. So Ben Worthen at the Wall Street Journal sat down and actually spoke with an executive whose account managers were, in fact, putting the iPhone to good use. None of those top ten reasons really had any serious business impact, according to the WSJ story on Friday.

Apple enabling native Windows compatibility...in

If what The Register writes is even remotely true, the writing is on the wall for Microsoft's desktop dominance. What does it say? "Game over." The Register is reporting that Apple may be coding Leopard to run Windows applications natively (meaning, no need for Parallels, Boot Camp, etc.). It's a wild guess at this point, but the clues are there: Leopard's PE (Portable Executable--a way of encoding executable files) support was uncovered by one Stephen Edwards, who'd been working with Wine, the open source version of the Windows application programming interface (API). He found that Leopard's Dynamic Linker (Dyld) will try to load a PE file. Soon after, Leopard's hunt for DLLs referenced by the PE file appeared as further evidence that the presence of PE support may not simply be a hang over from Apple's use of the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). ...
