iPod Touch gets five new
Though there was plenty of other news at the Keynote today, iPod Touch users got a little love thrown their way today -- for a price. Master Steve announced that effective immediately, there are five new apps available for the Touch: Mail, Stocks, Notes, Weather, and Maps. Oh, and it will set current Touch owners back $20. * Preview mail before you open it, display grapics and photos inline, and view HTML, PDF, Word, and Exel attachments. * Stocks, Weather, and Notes all appear as widgets on your home screen. * Google Maps determines your approximate location if Wi-Fi is on and gives you directions, marks specific locations (Starbucks?), and has both hybrid and satellite maps to show you the way. Granted, it's not as exciting as the iPhone update (nor is it, ahem, as free) -- but at least we've got notes and mail now, right? That ought to count for something. iTunes 7.6 at Macworld: Movie Rentals and Digital Copies on Fox DVDs [Apple]
MacRumors has a screenshot from a Family Guy DVD slated to drop on Jan. 15 that includes a digital copy for iTunes and iPod, seemingly confirming what we heard earlier. But, the "Fox Digital Copy" (which apparently is in WMV and H.264) requires iTunes 7.6, which AppleInsider says will debut at Macworld (obvs) and include movie rental support. Review: ProClip Padded Holder with Tilt Swivel for
By premium car mount, we are referring both to features and pricing: the Padded Holder with Tilt Swivel is still part of the best series of iPod car mounts we ve seen, but it s not cheap. Unlike early ProClip Holders, which were made entirely from uncoated hard plastic, the Padded Holders are covered in a soft, velvet-like coating that won t scratch even the polished rear surfaces of recent iPods. Girl opens iPod, finds wacky note
Filed under: iPod Family, Odds and ends
A Washington, DC area father gave his daughter a gift of an iPod classic this Christmas, surely thinking she would be thrilled. Sadly, when his daughter opened the iPod she didn't find everyone's favorite MP3 player waiting for her. Instead she found a note which read, 'Reclaim your mind from the media shackles. Read a book and resurrect yourself. To claim your capitalistic garbage go to your nearest Apple Store,' and a few books about leading a more enlightened life. The father returned the iPod to WalMart, where he purchased it, for a full refund. WalMart explains that this had happened to another person, and that Apple is responsible for it (though it seems much more likely to me that someone bought a few iPods, replaced the devices with these letters, and returned them). First rocks, now letters, what is next to show up in an iPod box? [via Fake Steve] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Review: XtremeMac Verona Sleeve Leather Cases for iPod nano, classic &
The core idea behind all of these cases four colors are available for the nano, with two color options for the classic and touch is to cover most of the iPod save for its screen, controls, and ports with a leather-wrapped hard shell similar to ones we ve been testing for years from Vaja Cases and its lower-priced cousin, Case Mate. Here, the twist is that the leather is vertically striped rather than just a single color, except for
