Why Purchase an iPod remote?

The iPod remote is - according to some - an essential iPod accessory. At the very least, the iPod remote is an interesting accessory. The iPod remote is an amazing way to enhance the pleasure of listening to your favorite music or book on the go. Some downfalls noted on the use of an iPod remote by consumers were the length of the cord and its sensitivity to rough usage. However the benefits far outweigh the pitfalls for most iPod users.

There are wireless iPod remotes available as well. And as technology exceeds most laymen's imagination there will likely be countless upgraded versions on the market soon.

One of the most-often touted features of the iPod remote is the freedom to clip it virtually anywhere. It is an easy and carefree way to access the many cool features of the iPod. You can attach the iPod remote to a lapel, shirt, purse or book bag, positioning it so that buttons can be utilized more quickly. Another popular feature is the "hold" switch. It gives you the ability to lock the keypad so your iPod remote is not accidentally turned off or turned up or otherwise altered, creating an annoying situation.

Avid photography iPod users might be particularly aware of the slideshow or picture quality and compatibility with the use of an iPod remote. Careful consideration and thorough investigation will render a perfect iPod remote for your particular interests, usage, and model of iPod. Downloads are obviously available and must be researched and kept current to make the most of your overall iPod system.

When considering the varying types of wireless iPod remote controllers on the market, range is an important concern. What type of iPod remote you wish to purchase depends largely on if you are going to be controlling your iPod from your purse or the next room, or if your iPod will be in the glove box. These location differences add to the selection and the choice of what type iPod remote you need.

Functionality is vastly important when choosing an iPod remote. In addition to the usual features such as play/pause, forward/backward and volume up/down features, some remotes allow you to switch between playlists or albums. Or in the case of audio books some iPod remote controllers allow you the pleasure of skipping ahead to a specific chapter or skipping chapters completely. Size and cost are also important considerations when considering an iPod remote.

A simple Internet search will garner dozens of sites offering reviews of the iPod remote and detailed descriptions of its features. With this supply of information to help guide you through an intelligent choice of products - what are you waiting for?

Spirit of St Louis Boombox Gives Your iPod Retro Aviation Chic

Forget the boringly-plastic iPod boomboxes we've shown you before: I want one of these. It's in period aviation "Spirit of St Loius" style: wooden cabinet, shiny dials and satisfyingly chunky switches, meant to look like a WWII battlefield radio. Inside there's an iPod dock, CD player and AM-FM radio that's also an alarm clock. It's powered by 8 "D" batteries, so you can haul it along to picnics in the park, and measures 19 x 8.7 x 7.9-inches. The one drawback: its price is also satisfyingly chunky at $586. Review: xGear Defender Case for iPhone 3G
Based on the same dual-color silicone rubber technology we’ve seen in a number of other recent cases, Defender comes in four different colors that vary in price. For some reason, while red and clear frosted alternatives sell for $25, xGear’s site shows another “black” version for $27, but its photos alternate between the black on black and gray on black versions shown in our images here. Which one do you get with your order?…
News: Apple releases iPhone Software 2.0.2 [updated]
Apple has released iPhone Software 2.0.2, the latest update to the iPhone and iPod touch software. As with software version 2.0.1, Apple describes the new software as containing simply “bug fixes.” It is currently unclear whether this update will address the reception problems currently being experienced by some iPhone 3G users. The download is 248.7MB in size for the iPhone 3G and 241.9MB for the iPhone, and is available now for the iPhone,…
Nanoscope: AppleTV 1973.0

AppleTV may be full of neat new-fangled technology, but we're old school. That's why we prefer this AppleTVesque mod called the Nanoscope. Formerly a 35mm slide viewer, the device was repurposed through a bit of Dremel/cursing to fit an iPod Nano (because it happens to have a screen size not so different from 35mm film). Additionally, a speaker was crammed into the 70s era casing so that the whole family at least two people could enjoy a movie together. Hotness. We'll have to install green appliances to match while waiting for our videos to encode upside down. [Thanks Mark!]

XZABADY iPod Dock is Waterproof, Thinks It's a Picture Frame

Shrink-wrapping your MP3 player has suddenly become reality, thanks to the guys at Twinbird. The XZABADY (crazy name, eh, crazy guys?) is a frame-shaped iPod dock with FM radio that you can park your player in to make it waterproof. The player connects via an audio jack, and you can customize the background with a picture of your loved one—maybe they look better with an iPod superimposed on top of them—and then press down on the silicon rubber sheet to seal. XZABADY: truly a byword for fugtional; where fug meets function. [Trends in Japan]

Charge an iPod With Vodka? Sounds Educational, Incapacitating

Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies have launched the the Bio Energy Discovery Kit, a product that they are calling "the fuel cell industry’s first direct ethanol product." The kit directly converts alcohol into electricity and can run non-stop for days on end. The purpose of the kit is to introduce fuel cell technology to students, scientists, teachers and engineers using a simple gadget that is easy to understand.

However, they claim that the kit could be the first step towards replacing conventional batteries in portable devices like iPods or mobile phone chargers. I don't know how practical a commercial application would be, or whether or not I would be willing to give up a single drop of my precious vodka, but you can pick up the kit now for $99. iPhone Gets Sticker Display, AM/FM Capability? (No)

While we doubt that this Lax-Max AM/FM radio is one of the many new products sure to be unveiled at Macworld next week, we couldn't help to admire the design. A printed sticker display makes for an extremely energy efficient device and we're fairly certain that the (classic) AM/FM radio will provide as much entertainment as that internet/MP3/talking fad anyway. All in all, a good solution for the kid who always wants to touch/drool/poo your precious piece of Cupertino.
